Design:
The set boasts a strong and solid design that might tempt you to think of playing baseball games with it. On a more serious notes, the device does offer a durable design that can withstand considerable shocks where other smartphones might fail, thanks to the aluminum casing around the set.  But this has led to a comparatively higher weight of the device measuring over 160 g. HTC has also made a few changes to the looks of the Desire HD compared to the original Desire. The Optical Trackpad and the four physical buttons present at the bottom of the screen have been replaced with the touch-sensitive buttons. This gives the device an integrated look and feel.

Display:
The presence of a big 4.3 inch screen on the Desire HD takes your viewing experience to the next level from it's predecessor 3.8 inch screen. Though this phone boasts the same screen resolution that was there on the original Desire, the fact that you can magnify the same resolution onto a bigger display makes operating the phone easier than before. The device has quite a glossy display and also features plethora of sensors that are there on many of the smartphones.
Camera:
The device sports a 8 MP camera at the back of it which is quite adequate for your normal photography needs under normal light conditions. However, during low light conditions you might experience hazy pictures and image blurr while zooming to take pictures. The set does well to distribute the noise making blurr and you can obtained better quality pictures by lowering the pixel capacity from 8 MP to a lower version.
Desire the Android:
The device runs on Android 2.2 which has included some latest features such as WiFi hotspot functionality and USB tethering. With the help of these features you can share your Desire HD 3G signals with device such as Laptop. Another useful feature that you get on this device is the Android's multitasking ability. This OS actually allows you run  anything that you want over it parallel. This comes handy when you only have brief moments to glance at your phone's screen and you cannot
afford to constantly restart the app again and again.
Internet Browsing:
The device has a very capable browser that can load data rich and content rich pages in a very quick manner and can also act upon our touch in a admirably alert fashion. You can scroll through the pages smoothly without any glitch and the pinch-to-zoom feature lets you have as close look at the content as you want. The phone is quite sensitive when it  comes to switching between portrait-to-landscape mode and vice versa.  You can also playback Flash-based contents at your will along with YouTube videos. Overall, Internet browsing is an experience you will always cherish on this device.
Conclusion:
The phone might have drawn some flak because of the battery life issues. Nonetheless, it's is one of the best offering available as of now and if the features and functionality are the things you look for in a smartphone along with performance then you might not mind ignoring a few small issues here and there to have your hands on this amazing device. Given the popularity that it's predecessor HTC Desire enjoyed, it has managed to live up to the expectations of the people to a great extent.
